Philip M Dingemanse is an award winning Tasmanian architecture and design studio.
A design focused practice, key characteristics of the studio are rigorous and strategic design thinking, thoughtful response to site and surroundings, quality and attention to detail.
Professional services are tailored to client’s and stakeholders individual needs and sites, with a particular focus on collaboration, clear communication and careful implementation of best practice environmentally sustainable design.
Underpinning the services is an appreciation and understanding of budgetary limitations and an impetus to maximise opportunities within the constraints.
Services include developing the brief, feasibility and analysis, selection of site and heritage guidance, as well as the range of design stages, including concept, design development, town planning, documentation, contractor selection and administration.
With commitment to research and best practice, the studio delivers projects of the highest quality.
In 2016 Philip was awarded a trip to Italy to attend the Venice Architecture Biennale & SMEG Tour.
The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded Philip Tasmania’s 2015 Emerging Architect Prize in recognition of outstanding contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and community.
The Prize Jury Citation notes that “……Philip’s dedicated work, covering the breadth of the architectural profession, represents an aspiration for emerging architects and graduates to strive for.”
The Valley House was awarded the 2015 Commendation for Tasmania Residential Architecture. In 2014 the AIA awarded the Southern Outlet House a National Commendation and further selected the home as the most outstanding work of residential architecture in Tasmania in 2014.
Philip graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2001 with a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours.
Following graduation, Philip was based in Melbourne for 5 years, where he worked with Plus Architecture, Fender Katsalidis (Melbourne) and Fender Katsalidis Mirams (Sydney). In Tasmania he worked with Birrelli Architects and contributed to multiple award winning projects during his for 5 years at the practice.
Philip has worked on a broad range of projects types, including master planning and competition schemes, educational facilities, multi-storey office buildings, leisure facilities, mixed-use commercial developments, as well as single, low rise and multi storey residential schemes.
With experience in concept and design development, heritage projects, conceptual visualisation, as well as contract documentation and administration, Philip has professional skills in all phases of design and construction delivery.
Philip also has wide-ranging experience in onsite construction and building, an awareness that closely informs his design method.
Philip maintains an ongoing relationship with the University Of Tasmania School of Architecture as a design tutor, working with students of all year levels.
